New Self Guided Mountain Bike Trail at Stillwell Preserve, Long Island Concerned Long Island Mountain Bicyclists (C.L.I.M.B.) will have a ribbon cutting ceremony for a new beginner’s interpretive mountain biking trail at Stillwell Woods Preserve on Sat. April 29, 2006.
Concerned Long Island Mountain Bicyclists (C.L.I.M.B.) will have a ribbon cutting ceremony for a new beginner’s interpretive mountain biking trail at Stillwell Woods Preserve on Saturday, April 29, 2006 from 10am until 12pm. You must have a helmet to
participate.
In celebration and support of the efforts of C.L.I.M.B., Cannondale USA will be supporting this event with their Cannondale Epidemic Tour 2006. Their Demo Truck will be heading out to Long Island Aril 28th for factory demo at the Bike Junkie's Bethpage store and then on Saturday April 29th they will be at the Stillwell Woods Preserve trail head with oodles of mountain, and other off road bikes for you to try out. Again a reminder, bring your helmet, bike shoes and a photo ID in order to demo these great bikes.
The C.L.I.M.B. volunteer work crew has created a mountain bike interpretive trail within the Stillwell Woods Nature Preserve in Syosset, New York. This trail has twelve interpretive sign stations. At each station, trail users will learn environmentally sound bike riding techniques, socially responsible trail etiquette tips and a lesson in native plant and animal habitats of the area.
This family friendly trail is a loop of about two miles in length that will start at the parking lot trailhead and eventually bring you back to where you started. C.L.I.M.B. will host a bike safety check and
guided rides for the community.
Although mountain bicycling is one of the fastest growing sports bicycle sports, there are currently no training classes available on how to ride the trails in an environmentally friendly manner. This will be the first self-guided beginner mountain bicycle trail of this
kind available in our area specifically designed to help overcome this educational deficit.
This loop trail will take a convenient 30 minutes to complete. Doctors are currently prescribing 30 minutes of daily exercise as treatment for some diseases. This beginner friendly trail was designed to be a fun way to encourage local residents to enjoy the benefits of such healthy outdoor exercise. It will be an easy way to get your recommended regular exercise while developing an
appreciation for the natural environment.
Established in 1990, Concerned Long Island Mountain Bicyclists is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the growth and safe enjoyment of mountain bicycling. We educate the mountain biking community on trail use that is environmentally sound and socially
responsible. We promote a strong relationship between recreation and conservation. We are a member supported trail advocacy organization and presently maintain over eighty miles of cross-country mountain bike trails across Long Island.
